Commentary: Advocating Morality in the Public Square

Religion and Politics! Those are two subjects we are told to never bring up if you wish to retain or obtain friends in our culture.  Should this really be the Christian position?  Indeed in my conservative Christian faith group, the default position is to never speak of politics in church.  But, what about morality?  Are morals “political”?  Is murder, lying, stealing, adultery, justice, mercy, and similar subjects “political”? They certainly are. The series  of one page essays on Morality and the Public Square addresses if and how Christians are to conduct themselves in the public square.

Some immediately think of political discussions as those centered on political parties or candidates.  That is NOT what these essays address.   I have been asked over the years how a Christian determines how to fulfill their citizen duty  to vote.  These essays attempt to provide biblical insight in the factors Christian should weight when they are making these decisions.  In no way do they suggest any political ideology.  Christians can be Christian under any political system.

This posting completes this series of essays.  Comments are encouraged.
