Some of you (who actually read the monthly email containing one of Martha’s Poems and one of my Essays) may have noticed there was no posting last Monday, Aug. 7. We are taking some time off until after the Labor Day holidays. There is good reason for this: we have our two granddaughters ( James and Becki’s daughters ) here until after Labor Day. They are a joy!.
At their request we are teaching them some “old-timer” skills. This includes things like water bath and pressure cooker canning, learning to drive the large tractor and mow, learning to use shop tools, and of course other cooking skills Martha is teaching them like making jam, real home made biscuits, and cakes and pies from “scratch”. At their request, I will be giving them the seminars I use to train others in Earth-Kind Gardening, Raised Beds and Irrigation. All of this instruction is done with actual projects not just looking on, but actually doing.
This is a rare treat for us to have. Some of you have grand kids that live so close you can do this as they grow up. We are not that fortunate. For example, these two have being going on and assisting James and Becki in camps, seminars, and bible studies for the his Story of Redemption Series for several years. ( www.storyofredemptionfilms.com ) They live, when home, in the D.C. area. These two have already been in 19 countries.
So…. enjoy your respite from my Essays and pine for Martha’s poems over the next 3 weeks or so. And, keep cool.
Your friends,
Lynn and Martha Nored
Granddaughters are true blessings from God, and granddaughters are truly blessed to have grandparents like you. Enjoy the time and the company. Your posts are wonderful, but your family activities are blessings as well. Thank you for what you are doing and for who you are being.
Thank you Robert. Sorry it has taken awhile to reply to you. Besides the “time off” . I have been very ill this week (hospitalized) with severe diarrhea. OK now.
I enjoy your comments and thank you for the lesson blog you are emailing me.
I would be interested how and where you came to Christ and the emphasis you have in your life.
